Stockholm, Day 2: Pride Park

What a night… It stopped raining when we arrived at Pride Park (Tantolunden) during the afternoon, so we could eat without extra water being added to our dinner. Then we walked around looking at everything. There were a lot of interesting booths. I found a book I would like to read: “Faghag: a book about women who love gay men”. I will try to get my hands on it somewhere.

After a while we went to the main stage where a lot of bands were playing during the evening. They were September, Pay TV, Man Meadow, Diamond Dogs, West End Girls, Elin Lanto, and some more that I have forgotten now. The good thing was I managed to get a spot at the front, just behind the wheelchairs, so I had a great view. The bad thing was it started raining again…

After standing up the whole day and most of the evening we also had a sore back, legs and feet, and we started getting cold as we were soaking wet. A and one of my new friends went back to their hostel even before Alcazar started performing. The third girl stayed with me. But the weather was anything but fun, really. The area in front of the stage turned into a large pool of water at 10:15 pm (when Alcazar would perform). I found a couple of “islands” to stand on, but when people started getting in front of me I realized I wouldn’t see a thing. So I thought to hell with it, got in front of them all and got my spot behind the wheelchairs back, almost right in front of the stage, and didn’t care about the water that reached halfway up on my shoes. I got a perfect view of the stage!

Alcazar was okay. I don’t really listen to their music, but their songs are good to sing along to, and they performed both of the songs they’ve participated in the Swedish Song Contest with – and I like those songs!

Alcazar sang for an hour, which was 30 minutes more than was announced in the programme. The new programme also said that BWO would perform only half an hour instead of the whole hour it was initially said. Of course that made me sad. But it turned out they performed for almost an hour still, even though they didn’t start until 11:20 pm!

I saw BWO at the Rix FM Festival in 2007, but the last time I went to a real concert with them was in August 2006. So I had really looked forward to this performance. And I wasn’t at all disappointed. It almost stopped raining, they performed many of my favourite songs, there was not pushing in the audience, Martin was just as handsome and sexy as usual – and I made eye contact with him! Those were the best seconds during the whole performance…

Well, then I got to the underground, went back to my hostel, took a shower and lay out my clothes so they can dry a little during the night, and here I’m sitting, writing. But I will go to bed now. Tomorrow is the final day with A before I (and she) go home. But we won’t meet until 11 am, so we’ll get a late morning. That will be great!

I will post photos from today later.
