The Best Evening in a Very Long Time!

Tonight I went to Robert Wells’ concert here in Örebro – his only concert in my area during his Close Up Tour. And it was really close up! I was sitting in the middle of the second row, which was only a few metres away from Robert where he was sitting in the middle of the stage. Wonderful!

The concert didn’t end until half an hour later than what the concert plan said, encores included. I didn’t mind!
I cannot say which part of the concert I enjoyed the most. It was really cool when he played together with himself x2 (two Roberts on screens, and himself in the middle on the stage). Really cool! Then I was really happy when he played Hambo om bakfoten, which is one of my favorites. It was also fun that his old trombonist was sitting almost right in front of me, which Robert noticed (and I got it all on video). And there were so many songs that I enjoyed.

But the moment that touched me the most and even made my eyes slightly filled with tears was the final encore. It was It’s A Long Way to the Top – and when I heard that I almost started crying. Not because that song is so special, but because that was exactly the song that Hanson finished their concert in Stockholm with, on April 13, 2005. Always as I hear that song I remember that concert, how Taylor was standing on his grand piano making everyone sing with him, how he climbed up to the balcony just a few metres away from me, how Zac was standing on top of his drums while playing on them, and many other things. And now, to hear my other idol Robert Wells play that same song as his final encore, that was too much for my sensitive person.

Anyway. In the break I bought a book with piano sheet music from one of his tours and three albums. After the concert there was a signing session at the entrance. So I grabbed my piano book and one of my albums, plus my Dad’s album, and went to the small round table where Robert was standing surrounded by fans. I didn’t hold out my things to him as soon as I got there, I just stood close by for some time, enjoying the feeling of being so close to the person I’ve been looking up to for almost all my life… I got my things signed, had a small chat with Robert while he was signing, and then I asked to be photographed together with him. I will never forget how it felt to be standing there with his arm around my shoulders! I haven’t been that happy many times!

I have a lot of photos from the concert, I will add some of them here later. Now I have to go to bed!
