I’m Back Home

It’s 2 am and I just got home from Stockholm. This morning when I watched the morning news I suddenly decided that I wanted to see Gavin DeGraw live after all – so I bought a concert ticket that needed to be picked up at the arena by 6 pm, printed loads of maps over Stockholm, borrowed the car and set off after lunch!

Of course I chose the wrong exit from the highway on my way into Stockholm, so I ended up being very lost. I was very stressed because I only had half an hour to get my concert ticket! Luckily my Dad was at home and could guide me by phone!

I got my ticket, then I parked the car in another place and walked back to the Globe. The concert was in Annexet so I went there, left my jacket in the closet, had a look around the merchandise table, and then went to the stage area. I had a half hour before the opening act would start performing. I managed to get a spot in the front row, on the right side at the end of the stage. Quite okay. Unfortunately the grand piano was standing on the left side of the stage, but it didn’t matter that much. I still had a great view during the concert.

The opening act was Jack Soveretti. He was quite okay. Some girls around me were sighing and moaning when he sang his songs and said they wanted him to stop. But hey, why not let him have his moment in the spotlight too? He only performed for half an hour anyway.

Around 8:30 pm Gavin entered the stage. My first thought was: Aww, he cut his hair… Haha, I thought he was so cute with semi-curly shoulderlength hair!
But of course that didn’t make any difference to his music. I love many of his songs, and he sang almost all of my favourites. He played both guitar and grand piano. And sometimes he went to the edge of the stage and let the audience sing.

Even though I’m not actually a Gavin fan, it was a very nice concert with almost no pushing (where I stood) and I’m happy I went there and didn’t stay at home. It was fun to finally listen to him live, and he’s a good musician. He’s got a very special voice that I’ve gotten used to gradually, but the songs are great!

But if I had to choose between a Gavin concert and a Jason concert in the future, I would choose Jason Mraz. Not because his songs are better, because generally I prefer Gavin’s songs. But because Jason is more of an entertainer. Gavin’s concert wasn’t that special in that way. Jason’s concert was more of an improvisation show, with more energy and more things happening.

But as I said, I’m happy that I went to this concert.

And now I’m going to bed! Photos and videos will be added later.
